So, the whole campus is gearing up for Slope Day '07.
There seems to be a history of rappers coming. Snoop Dogg, Kanye, and this year T.I. There was quite a huge uproar recently because apparently googling T.I. comes up with stories that he's in jail dated April/May. No one bothered to check and see that it was in 2004 - thus he is not leaving us in the lurch. I don't particularly care, I only know one song by him. But he's from Atlanta! Love you Sarah!
So Slope Day is exactly the same as our senior bbq - last day of classes, huge day of ditching, there will even be bbq food. Although, as the wiki page states, the main focus is heavy heavy drinking. I know people who started this evening. And will wake up at 8am to attend champagne breakfasts and more pregaming before the concerts start at noon. One can actually purchase beer bracelets and thus drink on the slope, that's how deep rooted this tradition is - Cornell officially sells it on the slope. However, a day of no school, of being in the sun listening to music with my friends. Sounds pretty good to me.

Purely in the interests of science, I have replaced the word "wand" with "wang" in the first Harry Potter Book Let's see the results...
"Why aren't you supposed to do magic?" asked Harry. "Oh, well -- I was at Hogwarts meself but I -- er -- got expelled, ter tell yeh the truth. In me third year. They snapped me wang in half an' everything
A magic wang... this was what Harry had been really looking forward to.
"Yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Harry Potter." It wasn't a question. "You have your mother's eyes. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wang. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wang for charm work." "Your father, on the other hand, favored a mahogany wang. Eleven inches. "
Harry took the wang. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wang above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls
"Oh, move over," Hermione snarled. She grabbed Harry's wang, tapped the lock, and whispered, 'Alohomora!"
The troll couldn't feel Harry hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose, and Harry's wang had still been in his hand when he'd jumped - it had gone straight up one of the troll's nostrils.
He bent down and pulled his wang out of the troll's nose. It was covered in what looked like lumpy gray glue.
He ran onto the field as you fell, waved his wang, and you sort of slowed down before you hit the ground. Then he whirled his wang at the dementors. Shot silver stuff at them.
Ok I have found, definitive proof that J.K Rowling is a dirty DIRTY woman, making a fool of us all "Yes," Harry said, gripping his wang very tightly, and moving into the middle of the deserted classroom. He tried to keep his mind on flying, but something else kept intruding.... Any second now, he might hear his mother again... but he shouldn't think that, or he would hear her again, and he didn't want to... or did he? O_______O Something silver-white, something enormous, erupted from the end of his wang
Then, with a sigh, he raised his wang and prodded the silvery substance with its tip.
'Get - off - me!' Harry gasped. For a few seconds they struggled, Harry pulling at his uncles sausage-like fingers with his left hand, his right maintaining a firm grip on his raised wang.

wow i really hate mondays. i have class from 8am-5pm. it sucks so badly. luckily, it's only one day. today i also met a nice girl and we went to lunch. i wasn't super hungry because i'd had a delicious scone for breakfast 3.5 hours ago, but it was nice anyway.
I also had a french test today, which was semi-hard. Yeah, it was hard actually. I don't much like French anymore...it's hard. Stupid intermediate level, I don't think I should have been placed there.
So Mondays are hella long because of my chem lab, and my lab partner is such a weirdo. But he's cute and funny at the same time...he seems gay but them he doesn't really. I don't know. He's on the rowing team and always wears really tight/short things because he has to go practice right after lab...luckily the lab aprons cover us appropriately. He has the highest girliest giggle, it's so funny. He also explained to me that the reason he is so high strung and hyper on mondays (because he just laughs randomnly and makes strange noises sometimes and is just generally funny/weird) is because he can only have dessert once a week, and that day is monday. he is such a girl....
my undergrad TA lives in Risley with me. she thinks i stalked her over the weekend, because i saw her at brunch and went and talked to her as she was grading our problem set, then i saw her at Risley, then i saw her at the library. she's nice and funny though. The other TA said i was his favorite because i washed a beaker for him...
i came home and did some homework, and then, since tuesdays and thursdays are really lax for me, i went and watched tv the rest of the night. HOUSE, MD STARTS TOMORROW! i watched tennis, which i dearly love. the match i saw was pretty spectacular, although s. williams did fault a lot.
Steve Irwin died, which is really sad because when I was growing up in London he was a lot bigger there than (at the time) in the US. so i grew up with him, and he died. I read that he died in a GBR off Cairns, which is one of the places I visited last summer on vacation.
I made this post because lindsybinsy said that she doesn't wanna study. i know how frustrating it is to refresh the friends page and never find anything new. also, i'm waiting for my stupid facebook upload to finish. but it won't in time and i'm sleeeeeepy. so i'm going to bed. and i lost my tweezers so i can't set my alarm clock (it's broken so i have to perform surgery on it with tweezers to set the time) therefore i have to rely on my cell phone alarm clock which seems really shifty.

Friday night, they're showing V for Vendetta and Mr. and Mrs Smith for free on the slope, and I'm about to go have dinner with my sister. I got made up kinda nicely because in the mornings I never have time so I look like crap, but now, when I'm not going anywhere special, I had time so I did.
Then I perused facebook, and found some pictures that unfortunately made me cry, thus wasting my efforts. But they are so sweet. Bittersweet, yet I couldn't help but ( look )

This is really exciting. I got my housing assignment for Cornell. I am staying in the most sought-after dorm at Cornell, Risley Residential College. It looks like Hogwarts. It only takes 190 students (compared to thousands in the high-rises) and it is visual and performing arts-oriented. I don't know how the hell I got in there, I'm registered as a Chemistry major and my application essay was written in literally less than 5 minutes. But anyway, ( this is it )

I have shoes. I went shopping and bought shoes. There are five pairs of shoes. I bought them all. I wish you could see them. They make my feet smile. No small feat, I know, cause feet don't have mouths. Or smiles. How will I take them all to Cornell?

uuurghhha, what fabulous exciting times these days bring me!
When I wake up in the morning, I have very serious options to consider. Do I shower so I'm not stinky? Do I explore the fridge to find the last of the cheesecake? Or do I turn on the TV, anxious not to miss anything on Nickelodeon, channel 26?
And then, in the afternoon, I discover fabulous new hobbies to expand my mind. Either I sweep up leaves and doggy poo from the acres of backyard, battle the snake that lives behind my pool, or knit more scarves than there are students at Cornell.
Moral of my little spiel? I'm so boooored. i need human contact of some kind, i've been talking to my dog for a week. She's starting to run away from me.
(amy this update is mostly for you because you said that we should all update as much as possible during the summer. whoopee!)
